Time's a Wastin....

Wow i simply cannot believe that it has been nearly 4 months since my last post, we have just been in a whirl wind of insanity...since living with the Youngblood's we have: moved into a rental(way too close to Aurora aka the hooker exchange)which was actually perfect for us just 10 blocks from our place, A HUGE THANK YOU TO BRUCE AND JANINE! They came to visit and help us. Had a lovely thanksgiving @ The Moulton's. MOVED INTO OUR HOUSE...WELL ONE QUARTER OF OUR HOUSE. Had a relaxing Christmas with the Youngblood's, Including their parents.Worked our asses off and rang in the new year! So this is for you Mom a few photos to account for all the time we have not spent at home for Christmas(big sad face!!), calling our loved ones or thanking them for the Christmas gifts. We are hoping to resume normal life habits and behaviors sometime in 2012.

this is where we left off in October, with a severed deck and no roof or new addition

Mark and Jesse dug out the old foundation with a jack hammer and prepared for new proper, larger foundation with a slightly larger footprint, it was scary but I was so proud of their skills!!!

and we have new lumber going in now!! A huge accomplishment after planing and drawing and plenty of sketch-up and city inspections...learning curve here was HUGE

Onions update: she's awesome just the perfect addition to our family. Here she is in our cute little rental house

kitchen ceiling raised, ready for the new addition to be added

Beginning phase of the addition to our master bedroom, remember this is pretty much how it all started, I wanted a silly little closet in my bedroom

This is the builders dog, Zoe wearing my old ski team vest to keep warm on a winter day, I must say that the weather god's were looking out because it was a pretty dry winter here and we so needed that

we added a window to the store room so it's now technically a 4th bedroom

beginning of the new staircase

Cody giving Jesse a pep talk..."don't jump Jeckie!"

stomach sweeping...we learned this from an anthropologist that joined us for thanksgiving dinner at Martha and Kurt's, it is supposed to aide in digestion, it actually felt nice and kinda helped with the after thanksgiving belly ache

a good time was had while the Larkin's were all in the house!!!

Beard Brothers...Sissy mark loves your furry vest!!!

And we have heat!!!! One of the most energy efficient types on the market, a heat pump. In the city of Seattle you can get a rebate and a state tax credit. It's a bit of an eye sore but the environmental aspects of it far surpass the looks. Down with electric base board heating

this is a window that we got for free from Dustin, it's huge, in the staircase and frames the fig tree in our yard, sorry it's such a bad picture

barring a few major hitches with the insulation, including that they installed the wrong product(still made from over 50% recycled content, thank god) and that we FAILED our insulation inspection, I'm still glad that we have it.

a nod to the plumbing job done by Mark, Bruce and Jesse, your all awesomely hard workers and I thank you all so much, even when I forget to say it.

drywall and sky lights and a pinch of my closet in the master bedroom, yep we are fully enclosed now, no blue tarps, that was such a turning point. now if we can get rid of the rest of the garbage we will be sitting pretty, well a little prettier...

this is what we are calling our small apartment in our "condemned"(not really)house, this is really the master but it serves as the entryway, the coat closet, living room, dining room, kitchen and mark and I's bedroom

hideous 2-tone seafoam green GONE, primed and ready for new color

mint green also gone, I tried a 2 tone plaster treatment on the walls, both light gray's. This is the only room that we left the lath and plaster and the walls were narley, so I made them worse to make them look better? older? I think I like it, once it becomes a guest room instead of all of our closet and we loose the over-sized mini blinds it will look good

combo closet

this is the hallway into our master, someday it will have built in's and my bottle collection!!

bathroom color

silver lining...all the moving and dogs and change has made Indy and Onions friends. Onions loves to "climb the mountain" and "drink from the stream" though they don't always "laugh together" as right now they are beating each other up. It it so much better than it was I thought we ruined poor Indy's life for a minute there.

all this work and no play made Mark a hairy beast, luckily Ulrich came home from the islands for Christmas and fixed his old pal right up...

view of the kitchen with a sketch up view of the cabinet layout, the kitchen is our main focus right now. we are currently using the great out doors as a refrigerator and a toaster oven and electrical skillet. The other night we brought up the grill and it was fab

Happy NYE as you can see Ulrich fixed mark right into a mohawk. so here we are at another year. the last was a year was one of up's and downs for us, buying a house, all the projects, loosing one of the loves of my life, Phish. all in all we are so lucky to have what we do and I look forward to another year of change and growth as we transition into our home. i have a slew of resolutions and I hope you do too. xoxoxoxo
